HTC Desire

The HTC Desire is one of the top phones available at the moment. It’s a follow up to the HTC Legend and uses Android 2.1 as the operating system. Some of the standout features include a high quality camera compared to the Legend, a durable track pad for ease of use and “Live Wallpapers” which can be used to spice up your screen. Although the phone is similar in many ways to the Nexus One there are marked differences that make it an upgrade rather than an alternative. If you’re looking to buy HTC Desire phones then you also have a number of options when it comes to network. HTC Desire O2 and Orange deals, for example, are available for reasonable prices. Cheap Desire deals, however, are sometimes tricky to find.

Specifications

Firstly, the build quality of the HTC Desire is as good as you’d expect from an HTC phone. In other words, it’s top notch. Although the size of the phone is relatively large this does mean you get a good size screen although the buttons make single hand use difficult in some cases. The software is also good although the Flash performance is lacking in certain areas. In the box you get the handset, mains charger, battery and a USB cable.

The operating system is Android 2.1 and comes with HTC sense. There is 576GB of RAM and a 1GHz processor included making it a powerful handheld device. The display is AMOLED with a pinch zoom function and the resolution is 480×800. The talk time is up to 400 minutes although the battery life isn’t great for playing games and surfing the internet. This is a common problem with smart phones, however and isn’t limited to just the HTC Desire.

The camera is of a high quality and has 5 megapixels. It also includes face detection ability and an auto focus making it great as a portable camera. The video recording quality is slightly higher than the HTC Legend and there is also a feature to share to YouTube.

The phone is all about social interaction and hence there are Friend Stream, Facebook and twitter features built in. As you’re probably aware there are also a number of Android apps that can be used to expand its functionality.

Looks

Although some people prefer the sleek, silver look of Apple phones there is no doubt that HTC smart phones look fantastic. How a phone looks is largely a matter of personal preference but HTC Desire manages to pull off a large design without looking clunky. There are four buttons on the front of the phone for home, menu, back and search as well as the optical trackball which doubles up as an additional button.Buttons Of HTC Desire

A nice touch is that the camera is operated by the trackball giving the effect of a real shutter button. Many people don’t like using phones with a touch screen shutter.

Overall, there is very little to fault with the HTC Desire. Although even the best HTC Desire contracts are expensive at the moment you get what you pay for. It’s one of the best phones available at the moment and performs well in most areas. The only small problems are the lack of a voice to text feature and a slightly inferior camera compared to the Nexus One. The other features more than make up for this though.

HTC Desire Black

If you want your HTC Desire to stand out a bit then the HTC Desire black version may be worth trying. It has exactly the same features as the normal HTC Desire, but with a darker colour scheme. Whether you prefer the HTC Desire black colour scheme to the standard version is obviously a matter of personal taste, although there is no denying that it provides a sleek and attractive appearance.
