The HTC Desire Z, released October 11th, is a smart phone running googles Android 2.2(Froyo) with HTC sense operating system on a 1GHZ processor. This phone has a slide out QWERTY keyboard, 5 megapixel color camera with auto focus and flash, 720P HD video recording, 1.5 Gigabytes of internal phone storage and 512 Megabytes of expandable RAM, a 3.5 mm stereo audio jack and standard micro-USB 2.0 connections, as well as 3G and Bluetooth capabilities. This globally released phone by HTC comes only in the colour black, however, many differently coloured phone cases are available.
This compact mobile device measures 60mm wide, 119mm in length, 11.9mm thick and weighs only 135 grams with the battery. The 16 million color 480 x 800 pixel capacitive touchscreen measures 94mm diagonally and features pinch-to-zoom functionality with a gorilla glass scratch resistant housing. Desire Z will provide the user with approximately 390-400 minutes of talk time with a standby time of up to 350 hours using its standard rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
Using Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi, Edge, or 3g, this phone provides a variety of ways to connect to the world around you. Social networking is also fully integrated into this device providing easy access to Facebook, Friend stream, Twitter, and photo/video sharing with Youtube, Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter. An internal GPS antenna provides the user with up to date locations, directions, and easy use of the Google Maps system. Depending on the users’ service provider and selected plan, this phone also supports “Tethering”, which allows the phones internet connection to be shared with other devices.
HTC sense provides the user with an easy to use interface with many widgets such as bookmarks, calendar, clock, mail, messages, music, photo frame, search, settings, people and news. Multimedia such as photos, radio, music, and video are all easily played or shared on the Desire Z using its large variety of playback methods. G-sensors, digital compass, proximity sensor and ambient light sensors are all built into the phone to be used by many different applications which can be found on the Android Marketplace.
